Yes, I have to say I need help! Some have said that about me for many years now! However, I am serious in that Aberdeen Seafarers Centre needs help!
Over the years we have seen thousands of seafarers visit the Centre, each being blessed by our welcome and the many facilities we offer – all for free.
As always, over time, volunteers come and go. We could really do with some new faces to join our team of volunteers who give up an evening a month to man the Centre.
If you live in Aberdeen why not give me a call on 07754141076. We will be having a volunteer evening early in September which will include a free fish & chips from the Ashvale – it would be a good opportunity to meet existing volunteers and ask them what it is like!
Do let me know if you would like to attend.
So, what else has been happening? I am glad to say that I have had a week’s annual leave… and the volunteers managed admirably in my absence! Well done to you all!
I actually read a book from cover to cover – something of a rarity for me! Yes, it was relaxing, although I did take Byron to Deep Sea World one day and many hours were spent with him getting excited and then more excited as he saw the sharks, but especially the seals!
At work it has been more of the routine and more support to the crews that visit both the port and the Centre.
The saga continues with the Malaviya Seven… A new Captain arrived – alas, minus his luggage – just as I was leaving home for my holidays! His medication was in his case and the luggage was officially lost! An interesting few calls and texts ensued! Another crewmember had asked if we could give him any books on UFO’s and such like… this we did our best to do and as can be seen in the picture, he was delighted with what we gave him! His comment in our “Seafarers Comments Book” stated: “Wonderfully excellent services. Just amazing! God bless all – thanks!
They now await the next charter to get back to regular work! Meanwhile, even as I write, our Ship Visitor Derek is being beaten at pool by the 2nd Officer! It is good to let them relax and forget their worries…
I best finish for now… more to come…
